002 Beautiful Split Crossword Clue Idea
It's not easy being a searcher for a crossword puzzle. There are so many websites out there where you can get free crosswords and when I found those, the number of sites that offered them was quite a lot. I though I could do the same thing with a website where I had to pay for one. I started with the simplest (and therefore simplest word) clue: the word "split".
So I began to search. Obviously this is an obvious choice. The word "split" has two parts and the first part is "splitter". That's a very simple word, and I knew that I should be able to find the first clue here.
I spent a while trying to find the other words for the word "split". At one point, I almost gave up but then something hit. What's that? Something told me that a "splitter" was a misspelling of "splendour". Okay, I will give up that one now and try to find the rest of the word without too much difficulty. But the biggest problem was that the word "split" does not exist in the dictionary!
This was really tough because, even if I was successful in finding the rest of the word, the puzzle would still be very hard. For example, I know that the word "bridge" only occurs once in the whole sentence and I know that it must be somewhere in the puzzle. I also know that it should probably somewhere in the puzzle. So my next move was to go back over my puzzle and try to find every occurrence of the word "bridge" in the puzzle.
I started by going back to the beginning and going through the puzzle again, searching for the word "bridge". When I found that I had found the word, it was a relief and I was happy. But when I went back to finish the puzzle, what I found was a whole array of other words that I didn't know existed! It was a really funny moment.
The next time, I searched for the word "splitter". Again, I was satisfied. Then I went to search for the word "splendour". Well, this one was a lot easier than the first one because I knew exactly what I wanted. There are many words that end in "s", like "the" or "and". Splendor is my keyword, so I found it rather quickly.
Another problem that I found with my word search was that it gave me very few options. I can't use "splendour" or any of the other words that are commonly used to describe the different parts of a prism. So, once again, I was very happy. It took me maybe an extra 15 minutes to complete my search but, boy, was it worth it!
I recommend trying your own method of solving a split crossword puzzle. Try searching for the word you are missing. Try various ways to search for your words. You might find the method works well for you. It certainly did for me.
Finally, let's talk about how to actually solve the puzzle. I suppose we could go through this step by step and get frustrated at the same time. But, let me save you some time. To solve the puzzle, you just need to type in the correct word. Don't worry if you can't remember the exact spelling of the word. It won't matter, since the site will figure that out for you.
Once you have typed in the correct words, you can see them in a list. Most of the sites will also show you the image that comes up when you click on the words. It might not be very clear, but you should be able to recognize the picture. Click on it to solve the puzzle. It should take you no more than a few seconds.
If you are having trouble, there is always help available. My favorite way of solving word searches is by using the Yahoo search engine. You type in the word in an area where the Yahoo! people can find you.
One problem that often occurs is words that are mixed up. If this is the case, you can always check the html code to see if it is possible to fix the puzzle. Sometimes, you can replace one of the letters with another letter and get the puzzle correct. If your English isn't too good, there is always the option of leaving the "spaces" empty instead of filling it in manually. With a little bit of patience, it should be very easy to solve a split-word puzzle.
